Determination of fluorescein in natural and oilfield water by fluorimetric method
INTRODUCTION
The indicator (tracer) method is used in hydrology for following, or tracing, the water flows for understanding the processes in hydrological systems.
Oil companies often use the indicator (tracer) method for monitoring the exploitation of oil pools. Indicator (tracer) method gives essential information on the geological structure of the oilfield and the filtration flows in the stratum.
Substances used as tracers should be water-soluble, safe, cheap, have stable physical and chemical properties, be absent in nature and oilfield water, and must be detected in the water at low concentrations.
Fluorescein is a xanthene dye that is highly fluorescent, detectable even when present in minute (trace) amounts. Due to its properties, fluorescein is widely used as a tracer. Fluorescein is also used for the groundwater pathways research.
Lumex Instruments provides sensitive and selective fluorimetric method for the measurement of mass concentration of fluorescein in natural and oilfield water samples using the FLUORAT-02 analyzer.
