On July 16 – 21, 2017, Lumex Instruments and its partner Ohio Lumex took part in the 13th International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant, ICMGP 2017, held at Providence, Rhode Island, USA. The event brought together participants from the industry, government, research institutions, NGOs, and academia from 57 countries to share knowledge on mercury science, technology, management, and human health.

Nearly 1000 oral and poster presentations provided the comprehensive view of global and regional problems of mercury pollution. You can download the conference abstracts here.

During the conference and the exhibition, Lumex Instruments demonstrated their instruments and solutions for mercury determination. One of the highlights at the Lumex Instruments booth were the latest developments, such as the new monitor for natural gas RA-915AMNG and the new autosampler for mercury analyzer RA-915M.

The Zeeman background correction used in Lumex Instruments mercury analyzers eliminates the effect of interfering impurities. It is the only high sensitivity and selectivity instrument that does not require gold amalgam pre-concentration and subsequent regeneration steps. This enables the user to conduct real time air monitoring. In combination with pyrolysis or cold vapor attachments for liquid and solid sample testing, the instrument can determine mercury content in a wide range in water, soil, food products, air, natural and stack gases.

Background information

The ICMGP Conference

Mercury is a global pollutant, and its effective control in the environment calls for scientific research, innovative management strategies, and the cooperation among all nations. The ICMGP conferences have been committed to better understanding and effective management of mercury releases and emissions to decrease human and wildlife exposure.
