The main advantages of Capel-205 are:

  • Great variety of applications may be done thanks to electrophoresis separation technique
  • One instrument for multiple purposes: detects various types of analytes in almost any kind of aqueous-organic samples
  • Short analysis time and large autosampler capacity increase lab throughput
  • No any additional equipment (gas supplier, water bath, etc.) is required: Capel-205 works alone right after installation
  • Low reagents and sample consumption and standard consumables minimize running costs
  • No sample evaporation and contamination thanks to sealed vials with automatic opening in the autosampler
  • 21 CFR part 11 compliant software
  • Streaming potential control technique (optionally) improves repeatability of migration time and accuracy of analysis
principle of operation

Capillary electrophoresis is based upon the differential migration of components of aqueous samples within a narrow-fused silica capillary driven by an electric field. Separated components are detected and quantified by a highly sensitive optical system based on direct or indirect UV absorbance.

The system uses all main modes of CE (capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE), capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE), capillary isoelectric focusing (CIEF), and others).

CE systems Capel analyze and characterize Sicilian wheat landraces

CE systems Capel analyze and characterize Sicilian wheat landraces

Research Centre for Cereal and Industrial Crops, CREA
Italy

The global task of CREA research centers was to characterize all Sicilian wheat landraces (more than 52 varieties) and to compose a kind of database, also relating the obtained protein profiles to other properties of the wheat and its corresponding dough.
Lumex Instruments suggested using capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE) technique. Protein resolution and sensitivity are definitely superior to the classical SDS-PAGE analysis, while the highest degree of automatization of the whole analysis makes CGE much less laborious.

Distribution of soluble carbohydrates in grapevine tissues depending on the life cycle

Instituto de Biologia Agricola de Mendoza
Argentina

The distribution of soluble carbohydrates affects fruit yield and quality and depends on plant physiology. Thus, sugar analysis in plants is important throughout the entire growth process.
Lumex Instruments offered the Institute of Agricultural Biology of Mendoza the Capillary Electrophoresis method for determination of sugars in different tissues and phenology, with minimal sample preparation.

Capillary electrophoresis introduced to the analysis of wine and spirits

LEC (Laboratoire Expertises et Conseils) laboratory
France

One of the leading spirit production control companies in France, LEC successfully uses capillary electrophoresis (CE) for the determination of various compounds in wine and spirits, such as organic acids, inorganic cations, and sugars with CE system Capel-105M, and managed to replace some conventional techniques.
